Do you see Fall’s vibrant colors or the foreshadowing of winter?

Do you see fall’s vibrant colors—or the foreshadowing of winter?

Both are true. What we notice first often depends on our perspective.

In clinic and within our teams, perspective shapes everything—from how we interpret a patient’s silence to how we read a colleague’s email. When we pause to consider another lens, new awareness (and better decisions) open up. Sometimes that pause looks like asking, “What else might be true?” before reacting, or shifting from “Why didn’t you…” to “What would make this easier next time?” to keep the conversation constructive. Even something as simple as ending the day by naming one challenge and one win can widen the frame beyond the problem in front of us.

Just as autumn reminds us that change can be both beautiful and necessary, adjusting our perspective can transform the way we show up—for ourselves, our patients, and each other.
